One Time and hopefully your last
I don’t really understand the whole hype around this new kid on the block - Justin Bieber. He is freaking 16 years old - and he acts like a jackass!
With the recent news of how Channel 7 failed and disappointed a million hormonal school girls with a performance that intermittently resulted in a non-Bieber turnout - I had to have a look and see what the fuss was about.
This kid basically gets picked up from a few YouTube clips by Scooter Braun and one of his first songs out is a gig with Usher. Check it out below.
I honestly do not see what the whole hype about this kid is.
I can’t see how its very appealing to watch a really cool cool Justin hold a teenage party at Ushers place while he’s trying to pick up some girl thats not even legal. The screen is flooded with pre-pubescent girls “partying”, braces flashing as they go wild spraying foam and getting sugar high of Fanta.
And thankfully its all downhill from here - just wait till his voice breaks.
1 year agoIs it really that bad?
(Ekaterina Gerasimova - Source: SMH)
Reading the SMH late last night (article: http://www.smh.com.au/world/modern-mata-hari-leaves-kremlin-critics-exposed-20100428-tsem.html) I came across an article regarding Ekaterina Gerasimova - a hot model who is an undercover secret agent bedding political foes of the Kremlin and implicating them in compromising positions via images and video clips. She almost seems to be fit a James Bond villian like the one we see in Golden Eye - KGB v the Free West. Case in point below.
What I want to ask is: is it really that bad?
I imagine being implicated with her certainly can’t improve the Kremlin’s chances of discrediting a political foe. For example - say our favorite girl Ekaterina bedded doomed WA minister Troy Buswell - I think there would be a strong element in our Australian society cheering him on for such a feat - WHATEVER the consequences. And I am ready to put my money on the fact that he would have still kept his job - thumbs up all around.
Basic point I am making is that simply having this girl swinging around can’t be doing the damages that the Kremlin was hoping for - unless Russian girls are so hot, that she is considered to be ugly anyway.
But if Australia was to adopt such a tactic - we have a secret weapon that trumps them all. And that’s Pauline Hanson.
Please explain.
1 year agoWhat is Managerial Economics?
When a friend of mine at uni mentioned to me that she is dropping managerial economics a few weeks into the semester - the first thing that shot across my mind is: What the hell is “managerial economics”?!?
It seems she could neither answer the question either - and hence understandably, parting ways with it.
It seems no one knows - even the DB course administrator. Such is its ambiguity, he felt compelled to impart some of his wisdom on the first page of the course outline…

So when you struggle at times, think of Earnie.
1 year agoWordpress v Tumblr

As usual, I tend to distract my self from the repetitive and mundane readings of commercial law. The latest distraction led me to a few hours of exploration of various other tumblelogs - and least to say I wasn’t very impressed.
After reviewing some of the most popular blogs on the Tumblr database, I suddenly realised its basically dominated by teenage girls posting up random pieces of art and the odd old freakshow posting up pornography in an attempt to “appreciate sexology”. You really need to have an appreciation for the arts and a strong appreciation for photography. And I don’t, and neither do I think I really want to be on here anymore. For a top ten list of most popular tumblelogs check out the site: http://ashotofjd.com/post/282348540/the-most-popular-tumblr-blogs.
The reason why I got into micro blogging in the first place was to explore whatever interested me and communicate that - and whoever wanted to read it would - which isn’t my concern. Tumblr’s functionality made it so easy to get started - you can post virtually post in any media format in less than a minute. The thousands of photo’s that keep on churning out of this database is amazing.
But I think I need a platform that provides a lot more, yet making it easy. And I guess the next step from here is Wordpress. The functionality of Wordpress is definitely more sophisticated than Tumblr and also makes it a little more authentic. I like how it categorizes your posts, and can allow you to track your development over time. Also, just greater flexibility in your posting as well - and its not micro blogging.
But I want to go one step further and have my own site - I miss those high school days when I did —> Nobbstak.tk (it was the shit!). Definitely generated a lot of traffic when I use to post all those flash videos during school. And the domain name was free as well - at the time until a few years ago they commercialized that too. My ISP use to webhost a few hundred megabytes and Microsoft FrontPage was the program I used to create my website/blog.
So that’s the aim over the next few months - I just need to see whether it’s worthwhile. Main thing is I would probably want to publish anonymously - I don’t like my personality being displayed on the WWW for obvious reasons. So I need a good and catchy name for my next project - any suggestions?
I have been checking out how much it is to host and also purchase domain names - and its pretty damn cheap. I can have a site for 3 years, personalized domain name for around $60 odd. Not bad at all.
1 year agoEmpire Earth Nostalgia

Ohhh I miss this game so so much. Over the last two weeks, chatting with some mates from uni about the old school PC games triggered a strong sense of nostalgia.
Those were the days in high school between year 7 and 10. Use to play this game absolutely religiously. There were doubters out there - the legacy of AOE had formed a strong following out there who were too ignorant to consider Empire Earth. But this was the TRUE RTS game of its time.
What was there to not like about it? The basic limitation that Age of Empires had was that the game always just had a fixed time period. For example in AOE 1 it was between the time periods Stone Age to Bronze Age and the rest of the series followed suit - ie the middle ages for AOE2 and the colonial era for AOE3.
BUT Empire Earth spanned from the nomad/stone age ALL THE WAY THROUGH to the future nano age - spanning somewhat 500,000 years and around 14 different epochs. It almost felt like you were playing 14 different games.
And the gameplay was awesome - deathmatch battles that would go on for hours on end. I normally use to stick to the contemporary ages - WW1 onwards. The battles were extremely dynamic - ground wars, naval wars and once you could have aeroplanes, mad dog fights in the air.
Not to mention the fact that you could zoom down to the unit/ground level and watch the game fold from that perspective.
The only sticking point I can see thats of any relevance is that at the zoomed down level the units looked more like lego blocks than people - but it never came in the way of a great game.
The ground units spanned from foot soldiers to artillery units and tanks etc. The naval units from normal fishing boats and trawlers, transporters to all the types of naval battle ships AND aircraft carriers as well as nuclear powered submarines. Air units spanned from small fighter jets to large bombers, as well as transporter helicopters to assault ones as well.
And I desperately want it back. This is the first real time that I am regretting buying a Mac - just not enough games for this OS which is a massive fail. Now that the waters are calmer on the uni front I will finally get time to actually go around looking for the game now. Unfortunately I’m stuck to playing a demo of the mac compatible version of AOE III - and it just doesn’t do it.
I am thinking about running boot camp and installing windows - but I don’t really want to fork out $200 odd for Windows 7. I just want Windows XP to play my PC games - so if anyone had a copy out there that they don’t use XP anymore and don’t mind dishing it out - let me know:).
Over the last 2-3 years I ditched my crappy desktop PC and moved to PS3 - never thinking I would go back.
But the PS3 doesn’t have games like this.
